We Use "Self-Ligating" Brackets
Widespread use of self-ligating brackets is a new and exciting treatment modality in orthodontics. It is more than just different braces. It is a new way
of thinking altogether. In the past, orthodontists would use heavy forces to move teeth. Self-ligation utilizes light forces and low friction to move
teeth gently and more efficiently and than ever before. The results are outstanding. Because we use self-ligation our patients benefit in the following ways:
- Treatment is much more gentle
- Treatment time is considerably shorter than with conventional braces

Dr. Jacobson has been creating smiles in the area since 1975 and Dr. Martin has since 1999. Over the years, our doctors have treated many area dentists,
their employees, and their families. We work closely with all area dentists to provide a total team approach in our mutual patients' care.
Conservative Treatment Philosophy
There are numerous ways to correct most orthodontic problems. Some orthodontists choose to initiate treatment when a number of primary (baby) teeth are
still present. When this is done it is called "early treatment" or "Phase I" treatment. Almost always a second phase of treatment is then required when
all the permanent (adult) teeth erupt. Our doctors are very conservative with regard to early treatment and will not recommend it unless they are confident
it will provide a significant long-term benefit. They have found that, as the orthodontic literature suggests, most early treatment options do little to
shorten the duration of or minimize the difficulty of a later stage of treatment.
Commitment to Continuing Education
Our entire team attends numerous courses throughout the year to keep up-to-date with the many changes happening in the field. We love to know about what's
new and improved! All our clinical assistants are tested to become certified orthodontic assistants within the first year of working chairside. The
extra effort required to attain the COA designation is not mandatory in many offices, but it is in ours!
